A Message Shared at Butere Primary School
During a visit to Butere Primary School in Butere, students gathered to hear a message about faith, purpose, and the unique opportunity young people have when they begin seeking God early in life.
The message was shared in English while Julia translated into Swahili, helping every student follow the teaching clearly.
Before the main teaching began, the students were introduced to the work being done through Kingdom Kids, a ministry focused on helping the next generation grow in truth, faith, and purpose. The ministry itself began during a time of prayer and intercession, when a group of believers asked God how they could serve the next generation and help children discover the life God designed for them.
That journey eventually led them to Kenya and to schools like Butere Primary.
Understanding the Power of Intercession
The message began by explaining an important biblical idea: intercession.
Many people know what prayer is. Prayer is when we speak to God about our lives, our needs, and our desires.
Intercession goes deeper.
Intercession is when someone stands before God on behalf of other people and asks Him to act in their lives.
A powerful example of this comes from the story of Abraham in the Bible. When God revealed that judgment was coming to the city of Sodom, Abraham spoke with God and pleaded for mercy for the people living there.
Abraham stood before God on behalf of others.
In the same way, many prayers have been spoken for the children and future of Kenya.
Recognizing the Opportunity Students Have
The students were reminded that they are in a place filled with opportunity.
They have teachers guiding them, a school that values education, and leaders who want to see them succeed. These are privileges many children around the world do not have.
But there is an even greater opportunity available to them.
They have the chance to know God personally.
The Bible teaches that with God, nothing is impossible. When young people understand this truth early in life, it changes how they view their future.
What Happens When Jesus Enters Your Life
At one point, the students were asked a simple question:
“How many of you have asked Jesus to come into your heart?”
Many hands were raised.
This moment opened an important teaching.
When someone invites Jesus into their life, they receive something incredibly powerful: direct access to God.
Throughout much of the Bible, people needed prophets, priests, or special encounters to experience God’s presence. But through Jesus, believers can approach God directly.
God is not distant.
He is close.
In fact, the Bible teaches that God lives within those who believe in Him.
Living With the Presence of God
If God truly lives within a person, that reality changes everything.
It means life is not random. It means each person carries purpose.
The presence of God is meant to guide how we think, how we act, and how we make decisions.
This leads to a question every person must eventually answer:
What am I doing with the life God has given me?
Why Young People Should Seek God Early
Young people have an incredible advantage.
They can begin seeking God early in life.
They can develop faith while they are still learning, growing, and discovering their path in the world.
When someone begins asking God for direction early, their life starts moving toward the purpose God created for them.
The Bible teaches that faith is essential to pleasing God. When a young person believes that God has a plan for their life and begins seeking Him for guidance, they open the door for God to lead them into that plan.
Seek First the Kingdom of God
One of the most important teachings shared during the session came from the words of Jesus:
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
This verse teaches a powerful principle.
Life works best when God comes first.
Many people spend their lives chasing success, possessions, or recognition. But when God becomes the first priority, everything else begins to fall into its proper place.
Direction, provision, and purpose often follow those who choose to place God at the center of their lives.
God Already Knows Your Future
Another truth shared with the students is that God already knows the future of every person.
He understands their talents, their calling, and the life they were created to live.
This means every student sitting in that school carries a purpose that only they can fulfill.
There is an assignment waiting to be discovered.
The responsibility of every believer is to seek God and ask Him to reveal that plan.
True Satisfaction Comes From God
The world offers many promises about happiness and success.
People are told that satisfaction can be found in money, entertainment, popularity, or achievements.
But those things rarely satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart.
Just like a person who eats but remains hungry, or drinks but remains thirsty, a life that is disconnected from God will always feel incomplete.
True fulfillment comes only from the One who created us.
The Lord Is My Shepherd
Toward the end of the session, a student recited Psalm 23, one of the most well-known passages in the Bible:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
These words remind believers that when God leads a person’s life, He provides what they truly need.
He restores the soul.
He guides the right path.
And He remains present even in the darkest valleys.
For those who trust Him, goodness and mercy follow them throughout their lives.
A Prayer for the Students
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for every student at Butere Primary School. Thank You for the opportunity these young lives have to learn, grow, and discover the purpose You have placed inside them.
We pray that the seeds of truth planted in their hearts will continue to grow. Stir within them a hunger to know You more deeply and a desire to walk in the plans You have prepared for their lives.
Protect them from distractions that could lead them away from Your purpose. Surround them with wisdom, guidance, and people who will help them grow in faith.
May each student discover the life You designed for them and walk confidently in it.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
